Seattle Civic Dance Theater (SCDT) is the nonprofit company arm of Dance! West Seattle, founded in 1983. Each December, the company presents its Fundraiser Ballet "The Magical Doll Maker" as well as class demonstrations with students of Dance! West Seattle. SCDT also performs at schools and holiday events -- public and private -- throughout Seattle. At top levels, dancers are challenged to master pieces from original and traditional ballets. Our accomplished dancers also perform in festivals and concerts with other dance companies.

In addition to improving health and developing motor skills, dance provides constructive interaction, patience with one's self and others, plus the ability to listen and follow instruction.

Many of our dancers have gone on to dance professionally, teach dance and get jobs in their communities that further others in the arts. All of our concert dancers provide excellent role models in the dance school and involve themselves in their community by volunteering their services at various outlets.
